Math Anxiety

Dealing with math anxiety is an ongoing challenge for everyone supporting learners whose previous experiences with math have been anything but confidence inspiring! Arlene Cronin, Program Director for ACE Distance Delivery will first help us better understand what causes math anxiety, and review all of the ways it can affect learners. Arlene will then provide some practical strategies to overcome it. We invite you to participate. Learn what you can do to support your learners achieve their math-related learning goals!
Arlene Cronin
After a successful 30 year career in the college system, Arlene now works for the College Sector Committee for Adult Upgrading as the as the Program Director for ACE Distance Delivery. ACE Distance helps adults meet the admission requirements for postsecondary and apprenticeship programming throughout Ontario’s college system. <br> <br> Arlene has had a long term commitment to adult upgrading and literacy and has been a Reading teacher, literacy instructor, program manager and has served on boards at both the community and provincial level.
Barb Glass
Barb's teaching career began in the (then) York Region Board of Education. In 1990, she relocated to North Bay and spent 23 years at Canadore College, teaching and coordinating adult upgrading and pre-apprenticeship programs. Subsequently, Barb moved to Conestoga College as Chair, Preparatory Programs, followed by a three-year tenure at Niagara College as Associate Dean, Access Programs. In 2016, Barb began her current position as Executive Director of the CSC.
